From October 12th to 14th, the 2025 "Challenge Cup" China Youth Science and Technology Innovation "Unveiling and Commanding" Competition in the "High-End Equipment" main category was successfully held in Changsha, Hunan. The project titled "Ultrasonic-Laser Multi-Energy Field Remanufacturing Technology and Device for Strong-Tough Synergistic Gradient Coating of Critical Components in Tunnel Equipment," guided by teachers Hao Jingbin, Liu Hao, and Yang Haifeng from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology, and designed and produced by graduate students Wei Zhiyong, Lu Yongxin, Wang Fulei, Zheng Xuanyu, Du Qin, and others, was awarded the first prize.
This project targets critical components in tunnel equipment. It designs a remanufacturing technology and device that integrates ultrasonic-laser multi-energy field synergy, strong-tough synergistic gradient coating preparation, and intelligent wear monitoring. By combining material science, ultrasonic-laser technology, intelligent control, and monitoring technology, the project aims to address key challenges such as the difficulty of balancing strength and toughness in coatings, rapid wear, low precision in trajectory control, and the difficulty of early warning for wear conditions.
The project has achieved technological breakthroughs in four dimensions: strong-tough synergy in gradient coatings, ultrasonic-laser multi-energy field compounding, real-time wear node warning, and integrated remanufacturing devices. The project outcomes have been implemented in companies such as Xuzhou Huadong Machinery Co., Ltd. and China Railway 14th Bureau Group Equipment Co., Ltd., resulting in a 52% improvement in tool wear resistance, a significant extension of service life, and an approximate 68.8% reduction in the total cost per tool. The project complies with rock-breaking industry standards, possesses engineering and promotional value, aligns with national waste recycling policies, and is dedicated to creating a model application for the remanufacturing of tunnel equipment.
